These are some strange times that we're living in for sure. In an age where everything is going wireless, nothing seems to be fast enough and people freak out if they have to go more than 2 minutes without Twittering, it seems odd to take a step back.
Or is it?
Gone are the days of saving your pennies to go buy the new Nirvana CD for a cool $18 at the local music store. CDs are old news. In fact, most everyone has effectively flipped the bird to music stores at all; opting to download tunes for free, despite the constant threat of big brother finding out about it. Music is out there, it's easy to find and (although it's not 'legal') you can find most of it for free. Unless of course you're one of the growing number of people who just need something to hold on to.
Vinyl records are making a HUGE comeback. Some folks attribute it to some sort of retro craze that will eventually die out but the truth is: they never stopped making vinyl, you just upgraded to CD like everyone else. Despite new technologies and fast music downloads, people still feel the need to actually feel their albums. Vinyl offers a very tangible medium that the buyer can hold in their hand, whereas MP3s only exist in the electronic realm. People like to physically hold on to something that they pay for and have something to show for their expense. MP3 doesn't offer that which is why (in my humble opinion) so many people decide to download illegally - because they don't see it as theft since they're left holding nothing.
Whether you're just a bit curious, already started collecting or have an entire spare bedroom dedicated to your vinyl, you need to check out Dusty Groove. The online store has an amazing selection of just about every genre you can think of but they also offer TONS of limited edition, import and hard-to-find vinyl that you would traditionally have to spend 45 minutes in a back alley record shop to find.
