Saosin

Once a group of boys from Newport Beach, Ca, Saosin are now a touring super star band who have shared the stage with screamo’s greatest. Formed in 2003, Saosin has seen its share of strive and change at the very beginning. Initially headed by (now) Circa Survive’s lead vocalist Anthony Greeen; Green wasn’t happy with the big direction Saosin was taking in signing with Capitol Records and left. Enter Mr. Cove Reber, then a 19-year-old kid who sent in a demo to the band’s national vocal contest.
I’ve bought all of Saosin’s albums, including Green’s EP’s before the Capitol take over, and I’ve enjoyed them all. Their intensity on stage is really where they bring in the gold. Touring with some of today’s and yesterday’s emo-esque- post-hardcore- screamo stars such as Senses Fail, Alexisonfire, Underoath (who seriously are sick till this day), and The Devil Wears Prada; their live shows are so legit.
As a band born in the social network era, Saosin has utilized Myspace and Purevolume to the max. Also integrating the pop-culture collabo of music and fashion, the boys streamed their recording process on the web site of the mega-giant surf apparel company Hurley.
