The Lava Children

The first time you meet a musician, you can’t help but ask “What does your music sound like?” Which is totally natural, no worries. The response is typically a rattling off various musicians; a recipe of the pluses of various artists (with none of the minuses) mixed together into their final product.
However, what happens if you ask that question and the answer you get is: “We sound like us.” ???
For The Lava Children, there is no more appropriate way to answer. The duo hails from Oklahoma and while you’d be inclined to think that any band from that region would have a country or folksy influence, The Lava Children don’t even sound like they have an influence from Earth. The band has perfected a very original sounding product that can best be described as experimental. You could say that they have elements of synth-rock, psychedelic and electronic but those terms really only hit the tip of the iceberg.
If you’re looking for something outright original, this is it. I will say, however, that there is some definite weirdness here. If you’re looking for something to blast during a party, this probably isn’t it. If it’s a rainy, dreary day and you feel like taking a stroll down memory lane as drudged up by an audio stimulus, then you’re in the right place.
