When The Stage Lights Go Dim

Artist: Micah Schnabel
Album: When The Stage Lights Go Dim
Release Date: Out Now

Micah Schnabel may better be known to most of you as the lead singer for Two Cow Garage, the folk rock/ pop punk band from Ohio. Schnabel is latest on the growing list of band leaders to release their own, solo acoustic work.

Let me first say that the album is good, really good. Schnabel is a great songwriter and I love his voice; it's sort of like a less throaty Ben Nichols. However, as a whole, the album falls a little flat with me. When solo acoustic albums are all the rage, it's tough to stand out from the rest of the pack and to really leave a mark (in my opinion) you need to differentiate from your peers. Schnabel's album is good but musically speaking, it could be Chuck Ragan, Austin Lucas, Joey Cape, Jon Snodgrass or just about any lead singer gone acoustic.

The long and short of it is this: if you're a Two Cow Garage fan or a fan of Schnabel's earlier work, you'll LOVE this album. If you aren't familiar with his work, then odds are it'll be a tough sell for you.
