Eyes Like Diamonds

Thursday, 5 February 2009

Originally named A Dying Fate, Eyes Like Diamonds have evolved into the polished band many have seen at this past year's Extreme Thing.

The original band, A Dying Fate, came together in 2005 as a metal band. They eventually outgrew that sound and started to develop more of a feel for other genres. They modified their band and brought in a couple new members, Diego and Danielle. In turn, their sound became more mainstream pop rock with a very hard edge.

One night while eating at Denny's, Tony looked out the window and saw a billboard. The story goes that there was a hot girl on the billboard with diamonds all around her. As if by fate, he turned to his band members and said, "how about Eyes Like Diamonds?" The band soon settled on that name and the rest, as they say, is history.

So what drives this band to be as good as they are? Many of the members say it's their diversity. The band itself is composed of different musicians that individually like a wide range of music, from Devil Wears Prada to Brittany Spears. They also do not limit themselves to one genre. Moving out of pure metal allowed them to bring in more inspirations and starting points for songs. They pick up an instrument and start playing; one thing leads to another and they realize they have a hit in the works.

With all these awesome songs being produced they decided to put together their own album. They're in the process of getting their last couple songs recorded and then it's off to print. The album, entitled "Mystery" will be released in October.

Eyes Like Diamonds is an amazing band. They prove this time and time again when they step on stage. From the first note to the last beat on the drum, they have the audience standing in awe, especially because they aren't signed yet. The quality of their songs is consistent and well thought out. Listening to their music, fans get a mixture of mainstream pop rock that is worthy of riding the airwaves, with a subtle injection of that "hard edge." Thus, the product is a tasteful blend that has a good change of exposing the mainstream rock listeners to something harder.
