Greater Depths

Greater Depths is a 5-piece post-melodic-deathmetalcore band that not only rips your ears a new one with each performance but also wins the title for most syllables in an Xpoz band’s genre description. Nicely done.

The band was formed in May 2011 after Tyler and Ramon’s previous band, To Die With Taste, disbanded shortly after the 2011 Xpoz Battle of the Fans. The two surviving TDWT members soon recruited some friends to join the new musical venture. As Greater Depths, they released an EP and a single but had to cycle through a few members until everyone was the right fit for the band and all shared the same musical vision. Today, the lineup is finalized as a 5-piece: Tyler, Ramon, Connor Theo and Derrek.

The band draws influence from the likes of Chelsea Grin, Parkway Drive, BMTH, The Devil Wears Prada, and Animals As Leaders, among others. They have an appropriately raw sound that was painstakingly created through hard work and a discerning ear. Ramon writes most riffs while Tyler creates the song’s structure. The new song is then revealed to the band at practice where they tweak it as a whole and end up with a tune that everyone had a hand in creating.

Greater Depths has free music for download right now and are aiming to write and record a new full-length this winter (fingers crossed), which will also be given out for free as a thank you to their fans. Check out Greater Depths and see for yourself why these guys won at the Xpoz 2012 Battle of the Fans.
