Habit was formed in 2011 but the roots of the band go back years further. Blake, Dylan and Bobby were previously in an instrumental band called We Build Ruins but disbanded in 2009 after a couple years together. They recruited Chasen on vocals and were quick to snatch up Jake who had just come from And She Whispered. By summer of 2011, what we all currently know as Habit, was born.

The band’s music is just as diverse as their influences. They love everything from Beethoven and Sinatra to RX Bandits and The Mars Volta. Habit doesn’t try to adhere to any single genre. They write songs as an entire band and let the creative process dictate what genre the song is. The approach has worked very well for them and they see no need to change it.

“The best thing that XPOZ is doing is putting a positive label on the smokefree scene in Vegas, which is one of the worst scenes for advocating cigarettes,” said the band when asked what they think about a smokefree Vegas scene.
